OSU, Forest Ecosystem Research Lab
Prior to founding DAY CPM, Mike Day provided CM/GC Senior Project Management Services for this multifaceted facility at Oregon State University. The four-story research and educational facility is home to the University’s College of Forestry. The facility boasts innovative, one-of-a-kind features, such as its 4,200 square foot “reaction floor and wall” (a 17-foot-deep concrete floor and wall used for testing the durability of laminated wood beams and assemblies).
The laboratory also includes a Bio-Safety Level 3 insect-rearing containment facility, two specialized greenhouses for growing and studying transgenic plants, a GIS room that allows students to forecast weather and other environmental conditions anywhere in the world, as well as top-of-the line laboratories and teaching spaces. The project required a well-choreographed construction plan since this laboratory abuts an occupied facility.
